Reflections of my Work...

Well it's official, I have completed my first project as an Art IV student.  The project that   I am going to reflect on I named Phantom, because it was inspired by the music from the Phantom of the Opera.  You can find a picture of it in the Art  Work section of my site.  However, now I must write now.  I don't feel like I have learned anything from this project, it felt very manufactured, I really did not enjoy this one at all.  Usually my art work reflects something I am interested in, and I hide political symbolism in my art work, I couldn't in this one. The project was fun, don't get me wrong, but it really was not my style, I was out of my comfort zone I guess you could say. I worked on this project inside and outside of the classroom. I used Ink, Acrylic, gel medium, Mod Podge, papers, and some lace to create different textures.  I did figure out that in my next project, I shall not be using mod podge I hate that stuff.

This is the end, my only friend.

Ankh

These to paintings are "color" and "emotion"  the first one with the bomb s I called "Bombs of Inspiration" and the second painting with the water drops I called "Dazed and Confused".  Bombs of Inspiration was inspired by color and peaceful protesting of war and nuclear warfare. I created a stencil for the bombs and then painted each bomb with a different texture. I painted words on the bombs that reminded me of  the causes and effects of war. "Peace, Love, Equality  and Hate"  I painted the bombs in the pattern as if they were falling from the sky. The second painting was my emotion painting. It was inspired by the emotions of felling confused and lost. I got the idea for it from a Salvidor Dali painting of Alice in Wonderland.  The colors I chose were supposed to imply  "hope"  because one shouldn't feel confused and lost forever.   I used Ink on this one, because it is one of my favorite elements to add to a painting.  I learned how fast I can finish a project if I am truly motivated and am passionate about the art that I am creating.

 Phantom

This project was inspired by the doors, but Jim Morrison mainly.  I was at a friend's house where we watched the door's movie and thats where this project was born. I started with the background which is just acrylic paint that i painted in a rainbow, then I drew a portrait of Morrison, I tried my hardest not to butcher him, because drawing faces is not my strong point. I also put lyrics from the song The End on the canvas, which is my all time favorite doors song.  I love how this project came out, I would call it psychedelic art with a modern twist, I worked on this project for about a week roughly. The hardest part was the drawing of Morrison. All in all I would say that I have grown through this project because I learned new  techniques, and I feel more comofrtable drawing faces.

This is an Aida/Egyptian inspired art project. The goal was to make something 3D, and I feel as if I accomplished that goal. This is an Ankh Cross. It is made out of wood and I painted it black and gold, and I added hieroglyphics to try to make it look more authentic. I would guess that it is about 8 inches tall, and the base of it is 6 inches by 6 inches. I learned how to cut wood while working on this project, and I still prefer a flat canvas. I think that next time I am given a 3D assignment, I am going to try to use clay.

 Bombs of Inspiration

Dazed and Confused

The project was to create something that inspires someone else, well I decided to inspire others to ask questions. I want people to look at this and ask questions and not accept what they are told at face value.
